Indian Association of Gastro Intestinal Endo Surgeons (IAGES) is an organization of surgeons formed in 1993 to promote and spread the advancement of endoscopic surgery throughout India and beyond. IAGES is a vibrant and dynamic organization.  The Association regularly organizes conferences, workshops, Fellowship of IAGES (FIAGES) and Fellowship of Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery (FALS) courses across the country.

About JMAS

Journal of Minimal Access Surgery (JMAS), the official journal of IAGES, was launched in 2005. The JMAS, a Quarterly publication, was the first English-language journal from India, as also from this part of the world, dedicated to Minimal Access Surgery.The JMAS comprises of an outstanding Editorial Board involving Indian and international experts in the field. The mission of the JMAS is to publish peer-reviewed articles in the fields of laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgery, laparoscopic urology and gastrointestinal endoscopy. Although the Journal strives to publish quality articles submitted from around the world, there is a strong emphasis on showcasing Minimal Access Surgery as practiced in the developing world.

This is an open access journal, and articles are distributed under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 License, which allows others to remix, tweak, and build upon the work non-commercially, as long as appropriate credit is given and the new creations are licensed under the identical terms.

Digital Archiving

Wolters Kluwer Medknow provides for long-term digital preservation through two primary partnerships, Portico and CLOCKSS.

Portico is a leading digital preservation service worldwide. The content is preserved as an archival version and is not publically accessible via Portico, but is provided when required under specific conditions, such as discontinuation of the collection or catastrophic failure of the website.

CLOCKSS will enable any library to maintain their own archive of content from Wolters Kluwer Medknow and other publishers, with minimal technical effort and using cheaply available hardware.

Ahead of Print policy

Articles published online under the Ahead of Print model are considered published and can be cited and quoted using the DOI as the reference source. Wolters Kluwer Medknow has a policy that changes will not be made after publication of an article without following accepted procedures for making corrections to the scientific record.


While advertisements are crucial to this journal to be able to keep all content free for everyone, ethical considerations are in place to ensure the integrity of the journal and its content:

  • "Pop-up" and "banner" ads appear on a random, rotating basis. The advertiser has no control or input over the pages where their ads appear.
  • The Editorial Board has full and final approval over the content of all advertisements.
  • Advertisers will never be shown any manuscripts or other content prior to publication.

Journal of Minimal Access Surgery (JMAS) is a specialty journal that invites manuscripts from authors in specialty of laparoscopic and thoracoscopic surgery, laparoscopic urology, gastrointestinal endoscopy and robotic.
JMAS invites scientific submission from the authors in the following categories: Editorials, Leading articles, Review articles, Original articles (Basic and Clinical research), Evidence based / Systematic reviews, Unusual cases, How I do it differently? Troubleshooting in minimal access surgery, Instruments and equipment, Personal viewpoints and Letter to editor.
The journal respects the scientific submission of its authors and believes in following an expeditious double-blind peer review process and endeavors to complete the review process within a scheduled time frame. JMAS believes in safeguarding the privacy rights of human subjects. In order to comply with it, the journal instructs all authors when uploading the manuscript to also add the ethical clearance (human/animals)/ informed consent of subject in the manuscript. This applies to the study/case report that involves animal/human subjects/human specimens e.g. extracted tooth part/soft tissue for biopsy/in vitro analysis.
